Life Story Specialists of Greater Washington, DC is a group of life story specialists that started as a regional chapter of the Association of Personal Historians. APH (now defunct) was a trade association that provided professional support, a code of ethical standards, outreach, and education on improving the many skills that personal historians (also called Life Story Professionals or Life Story Specialists) strive to hone.
Our regional group consists of members ranging from Charlottesville, VA to Annapolis, MD, and the immediate DC metro area. We work with individuals, families, businesses, and non-profit organizations to help them preserve and share their stories. Our members work in a variety of formats, including video, books, websites, photo scanning and organizing, and audio.
The members of LSSGWA are committed to raising the quality of the services we offer by sharing experiences, learning together, and networking with one another. We welcome new members, and strive to offer enrichment to full-timers, part-timers, and those just starting out. We do have some expectations for membership, including active participation in the group. If you’d like to more information, please email us!
